Also the European Parliament agrees that waste paper is not ‘recycled paper’

The European paper industry warmly welcomes today’s decision by the European Parliament to block proposed legislation which would have had the effect of classifying waste paper as “recycled” paper before it has been recycled.

This sounds like a very sensible decision. In many European countries waste paper is a crucial ingredient for making paper, so it seems the EP did the right thing.

Funny detail:

In September this year, CEPI temporarily dumped bales of waste paper in front of the Commission’s headquarters building in Brussels to draw attention to the problem.

This reminds me a lot of the angry farmers that dumped fruit, dung and what-not in front of the Commission’s headquarters at various stages.
