Lately, I have been greatly inspired by Kenneth Goldsmith’s Uncreative Writing. I found this book through the work of postconceptual artist Alina Lupu, more specifically “This is a work of fiction”. On this page, I will occasionally share some of “my” productions. I used only found material, and given my interest in working life, labour markets and such, most of them will have some relation with those issues.
In its essence, the idea of uncreative writing is simple: there is so much text out there, which can be appropriated, reused or reconfigured to distill different meanings or to show the poetic content of whatever the original text was. Often, it borders on conceptual art, as the text is (also) about the judgement and choices of the uncreative writer. I recommend reading Goldsmith’s book, it is to text what the working methods of Andy Warhol are to visual arts!
So, under this space I will post examples of “my” own making.
